Read MoreThis pet photograph was taken of a Border Collie and he belongs to one of the veterinary assistants at Jefferson Veterinary Hospital. I took these series of pet portraits as part of the animal hospital's web redesign - instead of impersonal stock images, each pet photograph on the site is a client's pet or a pet of a staff member, and all photographs were shot around Frederick county, MD.
The light in downtown Frederick, MD at Baker Park was the perfect, magical, backdrop to photograph my daughter against. The blossoms were amazing, and the light just simply beautiful. There were children playing on the playground close by and, even though she was wearing her beautiful dress, my daughter is a normal child and was itching to run and play. This made for a super fast set of portrait photographs, her pulling her dress off right in front of the bell tower, putting her shirt and on and running like a mad child to play with the other children on the playground before the sunset.
This is one of many pet portraits done for Jefferson Veterinary Hospital's new website - if you have a moment, check it out, and if you are looking for a new veterinarian, definitely check these veterinarians out! If you drive by Jefferson on 340 you may have noticed some construction - this veterinary hospital is in the process of building Frederick county Maryaland's newest animal hospital, conveniently located just minutes from Frederick, MD in the heart of the beautiful small town of Jefferson, MD. If you poke around on the website, keep an eye out for where I attached a video to my dog for a dogs eye view of the hospital :)

This portrait is of my daughter and our elderly dog, Muffin who is a samoyed and will be 14 this year. Muffin is a trooper and is still patrolling our farm, we are lucky that my husband is a veterinarian over at Jefferson Veterinary Hospital, and hope that he can keep her going forever.
This photograph epitomizes how I hope that my daughter remembers her childhood. Riding around exploring on her pony.
Meet Bently the dog. I photographed him as part of an update that I've been doing with Jefferson Veterinary Hospital's website, where I've been taking pet portraits of the staff's dogs. I've been really enjoying photographing pets and I am seriously considering adding it to one of my specialities. As the wife of a veterinarian, I think that pet portraiture fits in my portfolio pretty nicely :D
This is a little different to my usual portraits and is a pet portrait of a dog of one the veterinary technicians' dogs over at my husband's animal hospital, Jefferson Veterinary Hospital. She is an Australian Shepherd, commonly referred to as an Aussie and was so sweet and soft.
Another photograph of another fun baseball game with Frederick National Little League in downtown Frederick at Staley Field. My son is loving these games.
This little girl is one of the oldest souls I know :)
The long, sunny days of little league with Frederick National Little League at Staley Park in Frederick, MD.
I've decided to task myself with the task of posting a photograph a day. I'm being forgiving on myself, it doesn't have to be something that I took that day, although that would be nice :D I took this photograph earlier this spring down at the cherry blossoms along the tidal basin in Washington DC.
Sometimes cloudy days are the perfect days for photography. They give the portraits a mood and atmosphere that is simply not obtainable on bright, sunshiny days. At the moment, all the purple weedy flowers are in bloom across Maryland and provide the most wonderful backdrop for portrait photography. Add in a dark, cloudy sky and it's a little bit of magic.
My accepted submission for Click Pro/Cm Pro. The 150 images are sorted by season and colour. They are a mix of client high school senior portraits, child portraits, photographs of my daughter and son, pictures of our trips to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, France and Spain. The vast majority of pictures were taken in Frederick, Maryland, with a few taken in Washington DC and Northern Virginia.

Read MoreHappy national puppy day!! It's national puppy day - celebrate the cuteness!!!!! This also seems like the perfect day to announce that I am going to start accepting clients for pet portraiture! I focus my photography on the things that I love, and I'm not quite sure why I haven't accepted clients specifically for pet photography before ... I've been doing it on a more personal basis with my pets and include pets as part of my child and senior portrait photography experiences.
If you are looking for a new furry family member, consider adopting from a local animal shelter or rescue!!! If you have a puppy or dog and are looking for a veterinarian, my husband is Dr. Brooks Ahalt over at Jefferson Veterinary Hospital and, not that I'm biased or anything, I think that he's pretty great!!!
